For anyone who thinks that they might like to take up gliding, or looking for a
thrilling day out, or as an unusual gift, or
for the merely curious, a trial flight is an ideal introduction to this
exhilarating sport.
Walking on Air at the Scottish Gliding Centre offers this opportunity so that you
can experience at first hand the thrill of silent flight.
You can have a flight of approximately 20 minutes with an instructor in one of the
club's two seat training aircraft. Depending on your requirements, assistance will be organised for you to get into the cockpit and attain
familiarisation with the cockpit environment and the sensations of flight. You can elect to take the controls yourself,
perhaps take photographs or a video, or just experience the sensations.
Depending on the weather you will experience hill
lift, soar in thermals, or perhaps
fly in "wave" or simply float down from a high
aerotow (up to about 2,500 feet). Either way it is the experience of a lifetime
floating quietly and effortlessly above some of Scotland's most spectacular countryside.
From a typical aerotow, as well as the local and Ochil hill ridges and Loch Leven,
you can see across both the rivers Forth and Tay and as far afield as the
Grampian mountains.
A Trial Flight voucher costs from just £40 and you can buy one for yourself or as a present for someone else.
There are some legal and safety restrictions on persons taking trial flights.
Children must be 14 years of age or older and those under the age of 18 will require a parent's or guardian's written
consent. Persons much
heavier than about 16 stones or unusually tall or short persons may not be able
to be accommodated in our gliders. Also there are a few medical conditions which
may make it unsafe to fly.
Please contact the club for further information and to buy your voucher.
